#143 Cover up perhaps?
|
May 24,2006
As I have said in a previous comment, I had read the book 'Desperation' by Stephen King
recently. And Desperation was on tonight, so I had to watch it. Like a lot of movies I
have watched after reading the book, I was...disappointed is not the word for it. At
the beginning, I was thinking 'Yes they are following the movie nicely!'. Then as it
progressed, there were changes to it, as always happens when a large book is compacted into
a limited time frame for TV. The movie seemed rushed, trying to fit the main points of the
book into three hours. Some characters and scenes and the way the story was told in the
book were changed for the alloted time. I think it should have been created as a mini-
series, like 'The Shining' remake on ABC. There were many other changes (such as there
were dogs not all wolves running amok) that I am suspecting that perhaps they had a limited
budget or something. I don't know, but it could have been better. There was no earnest
in the movie for me.
Today's update has a 'in-joke' in it as tribute to 'Desperation'.
It's easy to spot, but only people that read the book or cliff notes it, knows what it
means. But read the book. Reading is good for your brain.
