I watched Godzilla the other day. The Americanized one. It was the only thing on at the time. I remember watching it in theaters when it first came out.
And taking my little cousin with me to see it. And were thoroughly dissappointed. We felt it should have been called Iguanadon, NOT Godzilla. I have
been a Godzilla fan since I was little. Yes I know it looked like a guy in a rubber suit, and still does now in the newer ones. But I suppose it is like
Power Rangers are to kids and fans now. The cheesy camera angles to make it look like they are leaping 30 feet through the air. But I liked Godzilla. And
amongst many Godzilla fans, was excited to see Hollywood technology take it up a scale. Then the controversy started. The writer decided to change the whole
look of Godzilla. Fans cried out wanting it to be changed to look closer to the origional. But he would not have it. He said as homage to the origional, it
demanded that he redo the look. This did not make sense to me. Someone argued with me one time saying: 'If you don't change how he looks, then what's the
point of remaking?". I'm sure Superman fans would love it if they remade a movie and put him in a black suit with a mask, put a S on his chest, take away
his invunerability to bullets and take away his ability to fly. That was my point as a Godzilla fan. But I saw nothing that it was a Godzilla except
for the roar and the fact they called it Godzilla. It felt like a over grown mutated dinosaur having babies in NY. I admit the CGI looked great and had
great action scenes, prob is the creator would take it that means it was a success. Which I cannot figure out that kind of logic. In a interview with him
he talked about how the sales of the DVD would be and considered his Godzilla a huge success, even though people said it was not a good 'Godzilla' movie. I don't know, but it sounds like to me if you put out a comic
book and made some medicore sales, and no one bothered to write you a letter about it. Then the comic MUST have been a rowsing success in the comic world because you didn't
get HATE mail. Just need to have a little reality there. I know that the american iguanadon is suppose to appear in the latest Godzilla movie in japan. To
face off and show once and for all who the real one is. I get the feeling that Japan doesn't take iguanadon seriously. But I would like to see Hollywood
take another shot at another Godzilla movie with someone that will keep trueness to the origional. Well that was my rant and the only thing that I could
think of to write about this time.
